Summary

It's Saturday morning, and the DigiDestined decide to go on a picnic. However, their choice of a picnic spot is a bit unusual, because they've decided to go to the Digital World. After sneaking into school and getting into the computer room, a familiar face suddenly shows up. It's Mimi, just arrived from New York. She decided to stop in and look at the old school, and the DigiDestined invite her along to the Digital World. They pick a spot with no control spire so they can enjoy the afternoon. At one point, Armadillomon tosses Hawkmon some sushi and it starts rolling away. Hawkmon and Yolei go after it, and Mimi is concerned they're heading off alone, so she goes after them. She soon falls into the same trap they did and ends up in the Night Forest, an area controlled by the Digimon Emperor.

Soon, the two are attacked by Gekomon and Otamamon, controlled by dark rings. Palmon shows up and saves them, and after a tearful reunion they decide to destroy the control spire. Yolei tries to contact the others, but can't. Then, the Roachmon brothers show up and attack. Hawkmon armor-digivolves into Halsemon and tricks the Roachmon into crashing into the control spire. With it now damaged, Palmon digivolves to Togemon and helps Halsemon defeat the Roachmon and destroy the tower. Togemon says she'll stay and protect the freed Gekomon and Otamamon, and Mimi returns to New York.

Thoughts and Rating

This was a neat episode, too. A little boring because it fell into a pattern with the first two, but the higher level of comedy in the episode made up for it. Yard Sale Bombs has got to be the funniest attack I've ever seen. I was really impressed with how Mimi and Palmon reacted to being reunited. Considering the tearful way they parted four years ago, they reacted exactly the way you'd expect. Overall, the episode rates an 8.5 in my opinion.

• When Mimi arrives, she comments that she's wide awake, but right after changing her watch to Tokyo time, she says she's exhausted.

• When TK, Kari, and Davis crouch, they don't get any shorter. You can see when Yolei is standing upright in the hallway, she's the same height as the others, and when the others stand straight up she's still the same height.
• Why are the school bells ringing on a Saturday? I suppose they could've left the bells ringing all weekend on some kind of timer (my high school did), but what's the point in that?
• When she first arrives in the DigiWorld, Mimi comments that it hasn't changed. Unfortunately, if that were true, only File Island would exist, because the DigiWorld was in the process of being rebuilt when she left. If nothing has changed, they didn't get a whole lot done in the DigiWorld in the last four years.
• Mimi asks a lot of questions about the Digimon Emperor as if she doesn't know who he is or what he does, but Kari commented in "The Digiteam Complete" that Mimi emailed her wondering if Palmon would be okay. Since Mimi's concerned, it's obvious she already knew what the Digimon Emperor was doing in the DigiWorld.
• Mimi gets concerned when Yolei and Hawkmon go off alone. If she's worried about Yolei when Yolei has her digimon to protect her, then why does Mimi go off all by herself, with no digimon, to look for her?
