The Fate of Two Worlds | The
Digiteam Complete
Four years after the adventures of the original DigiDestined,
a lot has changed. Tai is now in high school, although he still
plays soccer. Sora plays tennis and helps her mom at the flower
shop, Joe is enrolled in a special school to learn to be a
doctor, Izzy's...pretty much the same, Mimi and her folks moved
to New York, and Matt is a guitar player and vocalist for his own
rock band.
After the opening sequence, we see the Digimon Emperor, the
new enemy who is human instead of digimon, sending out dark rings
that attach to digimon and turn them into the Digimon Emperor's
slaves. Gatomon is one of the digimon being attacked, but her
tail ring stops the dark ring. Then Unimon attacks her.
Meanwhile in the real world, TK heads off to his first day of
school in 7th grade. Along the way, he meets up with Yolei and
Cody, two kids who also live in his building. When they get to
school, TK thinks he sees Tai on the soccer field, but it turns
out to be a kid named Davis who also wears goggles and looks a
lot like Tai. TK is introduced to his new class, which just so
happens to have Kari in it, as well as Davis. Davis sees TK
talking with Kari and gets jealous, thinking TK is moving in on
"his girl."
As dark rings continue to capture digimon, Agumon calls out
for Tai, and Tai's digivice is activated. He arrives in the
Digital World and tells Agumon to digivolve, but Agumon explains
that he can't digivolve. With nothing else to do, Tai and Agumon
run from the attacking enslaved digimon, meeting up with Gatomon
and Patamon along the way. Hiding in a cave, Tai sends an email
to the other DigiDestined for help. In that same cave, they
discover what looks like a digiegg with a spike through it and
the Crest of Courage on it. Tai tries to pick it up, but he can't.
Instead, three balls of light come out of it and fly up into the
sky.
In the real world, school has just let out, and Yolei received
the email Tai sent to Kari. Yolei, Davis, Kari, and TK head to
the computer room, meeting Izzy along the way. They get to the
computer room and prepare to go to the Digital World, and Davis
says he wants to go as well. Just as TK explains that Davis needs
a digivice, three new digivices come out of the computer; one for
Davis, one for Yolei, and one for Cody. TK, Kari, and Davis go
through the gate to the DigiWorld and find Tai. Gatomon explains
that the Digimon Emperor has a new dark digivice that drains the
digimon's power and makes them unable to digivolve. After
everyone else tries, Davis is able to pick up the digiegg,
releasing his new partner digimon, Veemon.
Shortly after that, the kids are attacked by a controlled
Monochromon, and they run out of the cave. Veemon tells Davis he
has to have courage to open the digiegg, which will allow him to
digivolve. When Monochromon gets ready to attack Kari, Davis
finds that courage and yells "digi-armor, energize!"
Veemon then armor-digivolves into Flamedramon, the fire of
Courage. Flamedramon destroys the dark ring with his Fire Rocket,
and Monochromon returns to normal. After that, the kids all
return to the real world.
- What floor is TK's apartment on?
- According to Yolei, how long does it take to walk from
their apartment building to school?
Incredible episode! When it started up before the opening
showing the picture taken at the end of the last season, I got
pretty happy. From what I'd read of it, I didn't think there'd be
any reference to the first season at all. Great seeing the kids
older, great seeing the new kids, great new digimon, great start
to a great storyline. Overall, a great episode. I thought the
scene where Yolei is yelling at Izzy for an explanation of what's
going on was really funny, but my favorite part was during
Veemon's armor-digivolving sequence, when Agumon's digivolutions
appeared over top. I hadn't expected that at all, so I was pretty
happy. I give this episode a 9.5.
- "Our teacher looks like Ogremon." - TK to Kari
- "Move aside! This is a woman's job." - Kari
"Too bad we don't have a woman here to help!" -
TK
- "Davis, tell me, what hurts?" - Veemon
"Everything but my earlobes." - Davis
- "Get off, you're crushing my brownies!" - Izzy,
after the kids come back to the real world
- In the first season, "Snimon" was pronounced
"sny mon." Now it's pronounced "snee mon."
- How did Tai get into the Digital World? In "Iron
Vegiemon," Izzy explains that only the new digivices
can open the gate to the Digital World. Since Tai has an
old digivice, how'd he get in? The only explanation is
that the gate was open for ANYONE to get in at the time.
- When Tai meets up with Agumon, he tells him to digivolve.
Agumon says "That's why I need your help, Tai. I
can't digivolve." The first season clearly said that
in order for the digimon to digivolve, they needed energy
and their partner to be nearby. There's no way Agumon
could know that he can't digivolve before Tai gets there,
because Digimon Emperor or not, Agumon can't digivolve
without Tai with him. He'd need Tai's help either way!
- COMMERCIAL ONE
- When did Tai, Agumon, and Gatomon meet up with Patamon? I
suppose they could've done that during the commercial,
but we never get to see it.
- Tai emails the others with what looks like a D-Terminal.
Izzy also seems to have a D-Terminal. This doesn't make
any sense, because the D-Terminal is something that holds
the digieggs, and the only way Davis could get one was
after Flamedramon turned back into Veemon. Plus, we never
see Tai and Izzy's D-Terminals in any future episodes,
which is why it must be a mistake.
- How in the world did Yolei get an email meant for Kari?
Everyone knows email is password protected, so only Kari
should have been able to get that email. Maybe Yolei has
been practicing some hacking. ^_^
- Tai sent his email to the other seven DigiDestined from
season 1. Kari got the email, but it doesn't seem like TK
ever did. And why didn't Sora, Matt, or Joe respond to
the email. We don't ever see them in this episode, even
though Tai said in his email that the situation was an
emergency.
- Why is Yolei so clueless as to what a digimon is? She saw
the battle during the Digimon Movie between Diaboromon
and Omnimon, and since other kids watching the battle
knew they were digimon (Izzy reads an email from one of
the kids that specifically calls Wargreymon a digimon)
I'd think Yolei should know they're digimon as well.
- Davis mentions that Tai told him about the Digital World
once. TK is surprised Davis and Tai know each other, and
Kari explains that they play on the same soccer team. How
could Davis and Tai play on the same soccer team? Davis
is in middle school and Tai is in high school. I don't
see how they could play on the same team, considering the
age difference.
- A program that becomes quite familiar to us appears in
this episode. It's the one that spirals onto the computer
screen and shows whether the gate is opened or closed and
has an area in it for viewing into the Digital World from
the real world. My question is, where did that program
come from, and how does Izzy know how to use it? In
future episodes, the program only comes up when one of
the new digivices is nearby, so why did it come up now?
- While Tai, TK, Kari, and Davis hang out in the cave with
the Digiegg of Courage, Gatomon fills them in on the
situation. To spy on them, the Digimon Emperor sends one
of his dark rings into the cave to hover above and watch
them. Why didn't he try to capture one of the digimon
with that ring? I mean, it's right there, and the kids
never saw it, so why not? Better yet, why not send a
couple more rings to meet up with that one and catch all
the digimon?
- COMMERCIAL TWO
- When Monochromon starts breaking into the cave, Davis
yells "It's a monster!" Kari corrects him by
saying, "No, that's a digimon!" But
technically, Davis was at least partly right. I mean, a
digimon is a digital monster, so saying
Monochromon is a monster is correct.
- As the kids run from the cave, Davis has the digiegg in
his right hand. Outside of the cave, Davis stops for
breath and the digiegg is nowhere to be seen. Just as
Monochromon attacks, the digiegg is mysteriously back in
Davis's right hand.
- Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how taking his
goggles off proved that Davis had courage. He did nothing
courageous at all that I could see, but apparently he
didn't need to. The digiegg still opened.
- Speaking of the digiegg, how in the world did Davis know
what to say? "Digi-armor, energize" is not
something that comes to mind naturally. In fact, until
Veemon does digivolve, we don't know it's an
armor digivolution, so where did Davis come up with
"digi-armor, energize"?
- Flamedramon has to stop Monochromon because Kari can't
get out of the way. She says she can't move her ankle,
and since it's not caught in anything, one would assume
that it's hurt in some way. But right after the dark ring
is destroyed, she's perfectly fine, up on her feet next
to Monochromon. Didn't take long for that ankle to heal,
did it?
- COMMERCIAL THREE
- Tai gives Davis his goggles because Davis broke his, and
because "the leader of the DigiDestined wouldn't
look right without them." Why is Davis the new
leader of the group? At this point there are three new
DigiDestined: Davis, Yolei, and Cody. Tai doesn't know
who the other two digivices belong at this point, so why
does he assume Davis is the new leader? Maybe one of the
other two could do the job just as well or better, but
Tai doesn't seem to even give them a chance.
- The 8th. (Watch to the right of the elevator as Yolei and
Cody arrive on his floor.)
- 12.3 minutes, if there's no wind.
