Davis, TK, Kari, and Tai return from the Digital World. Yolei
and Cody are excited to go, but decide it would be best to wait
until after school tomorrow. That night, all the original
DigiDestined except for Mimi meet in a playground to talk about
the new threat to the DigiWorld (Mimi was emailed about it). Tai,
Izzy, Sora, TK, and Kari decide to join the three new kids in the
DigiWorld the next day.
When they do go, Tai stays behind to distract Mr. Fujiyama,
now in charge of the computer room, while the others go to the
DigiWorld. When they get there, Davis meets up with Veemon while
the Sora, Izzy, TK, and Kari reunite with their digimon. Shortly
thereafter, though, they're attacked by Snimon. Davis gets ready
to have Veemon armor-digivolve, but Drimogemon opens up a hole
under him suddenly and he falls in. Mojyamon shows up and knocks
Veemon into the hole as well. At this point Yolei and Cody
realize that the DigiWorld is a very real and very dangerous
place. The kids manage to get away from their attackers.
Meanwhile, the Digimon Emperor has Davis and Veemon attached
to the sides of cliffs and has Davis's digivice and D-Terminal.
Davis talks to the Digimon Emperor and realizes that he's a kid
the same age as Davis. While they hang there helpless, the other
kids discover two digieggs in a temple; one with the Crest of
Love on it, and another with the Crest of Knowledge. Sora and
Izzy try to lift them but fail, but Yolei and Cody are successful.
Yolei meets her digimon, Hawkmon, while Cody meets his,
Armadillomon. Yolei talks to Sora and Cody talks to Izzy, and
both show they have the trait on the digiegg. Hawkmon armor-digivolves
to Halsemon, the wings of Love, and Armadillomon armor-digivolves
into Digmon, the drill of power.
They manage to find and rescue Davis and Veemon just before
Veemon gets caught in a dark ring. Veemon armor-digivolves, and
each armor-digimon takes on one of the three digimon from earlier
and frees them. All the kids return to the real world, as well as
the three new digimon and Gatomon and Patamon. The three new
digimon return to their In-Training forms in the real world.
What did Cody and his family have for
dinner the night before he went to the DigiWorld?
- What do Yolei and her sister fight over?
Like the first one, this was a great episode. Seeing all the
original DigiDestined as older kids was really neat, and seeing
Biyomon and Tentomon was great too. When Hawkmon and Armadillomon
started digivolving, I hoped we'd see their Mega forms, but it
never happened. That was a little disappointing, but besides that
it was another great episode. I give it a 9.
- "That's right. It's 'Pork Surprise' at my place."
- Tai regarding that night's meal
- "I can't. I've got an oral test tomorrow on
laryngitis." - Joe (this was a really subtle joke,
which is why I love it)
- "All day long it's 'destroy this,' 'destroy that,'
'get me a cappuchino,' oy!" - the newly freed
digimon
- "The birds and the bees, huh? Thanks, Mr. Fujiyama.
Boy, when it comes to girls, this guy's got a lot to
learn." - Tai
- When Yolei works on Cody's computer, she has one part on
the floor on it's side and the rest nearby standing
upright. The only problem is that it doesn't look like
the part she's working on would go with the rest of it.
The shapes don't match up, and the part standing upright
doesn't look like it's been taken apart at all.
- COMMERCIAL ONE
- The Digimon Emperor shows a lot more control over the
actual terrain of the DigiWorld in this episode than he
does in future episodes. He just snaps his fingers and
parts of a cliff move around to reveal Veemon, etc. This
ability disappears later on.
- COMMERCIAL TWO
- Where did the three digimon that were attacking Sora,
Izzy, Yolei, Cody, TK, and Kari go? Before the commercial
they were under attack, and after the commercial they're
calmly walking through the woods with no enemies in sight.
- Cody says "This digivice you were nice enough to
give me...." No one gave him the digivice. It came
straight from the computer to him, so I don't know why he
says one of the kids there gave it to him.
- Why does Yolei get a male digimon? Up until now, the
tradition was that a DigiDestined got a digimon of the
same gender, but Hawkmon is definitely not a girl, so
this tradition was broken. I don't understand why, though.
- Not so much a nit as an observation, but Hawkmon sounded
a lot like Piedmon when he said "Why do I get stuck
with a defective human?"
- Yolei mentions her sister in this episode and at least
one other, but we never see her, and eventually we don't
even hear about her anymore.
- One of the biggest things that bugged me about this
episode when I first watched it was, why does Digmon say
"the drill of power"? The other digimon all use
the name of their digiegg in their little tag phrase, but
Armadillomon doesn't. He should say "the drill of
Knowledge." I kinda let this go when I first heard
it because, as the saying goes, "knowledge is power."
- Veemon tells the Digimon Emperor that he'll never been
his slave and that he might as well destroy him right now.
The Digimon Emperor says "As you wish," but
nothing changes. The ring still heads for Veemon to
enslave him.
- Suddenly Flamedramon's "Fire Rocket" attack
isn't the same as it was last episode. Last time it meant
Flamedramon basically caught on fire and charged at his
enemy. Now he throws fireballs, but calls it the same
thing.
- COMMERCIAL THREE
- After they return from the DigiWorld, Sora talks to
Biyomon through the computer and tells her to get some
rest for tomorrow because she'll need it. This makes it
sound like she'll be fighting tomorrow, but we don't see
her again for quite some time.
- Macaroni and cheese
- Who gets the last cookie
